A leading Continuing Education Internet Company currently seeking a highly motivated, talented Linux System Administrator consultant to support the development and production infrastructure of our multiple servers. We offer online video and audio courses to hundreds of users a day and have a total of 30,000 users on the website. This position is ideally suited to individuals who have a strong background in Linux system administration supporting LAMP environment and who can take leadership and direction and provide stable support during the working hours from remote location upon request as well as perform certain maintenance procedures on a scheduled basis. You are not required to commute and all work is encouraged to be done from your office. Those who demonstrate insight, ingenuity, and a self-led passion as well have a few professional references from other clients will be among the most strongly considered candidates.
We have a master / slave server model which runs LAMP environment supporting our website which provides dynamic flash and mp3 streaming to customers. We are running Wowza Stream Server 2.0 to do the streaming. One of the servers is used for the public site and the other server is used for admin section and streaming. There is a dynamic Mysql replication set up between the servers, so you have to be familiar with Mysql clustering. The duties will include to implement and oversee backup procedures as well general maintenance on a need basis. The ideal candidate should be available during work hours over the phone in case of possible emergencies and troubleshooting. Other projects will be on a scheduled basis and made and planned out in advance.
